Turbulence Training prides itself on quick fat loss results for men and women who don’t have a lot of time to prioritize towards exercise. This program adamantly wants you in the gym for only 3 workouts per week. No more! Before diving into the program, let’s take a closer look at the author behind the Turbulence workout system, Craig Ballantyne.
Craig is regularly featured in my favourite health magazine Men’s Health, along with Men’s Fitness, Oxygen and Shape Magazine. His clients span hundreds of people across both genders. I tend to support authors who have a lot of experience in personal training, as they’ve “battle tested” their theories. So I was very curious when I first heard about Turbulence Training. ![]() ![]() Craig’s career goes back into the mid-90s both in the gym and in the research lab. He’s led research trials on sport supplements, strength training, and cardiovascular training. This guy is a huge step-up from the weekend certificate trainers you’ll usually see at your local gym. When it comes to a “revolutionary and new” type of program like Turbulence Training, I would expect it to come from someone like Craig. Turbulence Training’s primary tools are an adjustable bench, dumbbells, and an exercise ball, pretty simple. The workouts are only 45 minutes long, and can get as intense as your fitness level requires. I tried some of the Turbulence Training workouts when I just started getting back into shape, and I still use some of the intermediate to advanced techniques now. Turbulence Training uses a lot of unique exercises, including some cool, killer bodyweight moves, which will make you more athletic, increase your core strength and works on practical functional movements- all with minimal equipment needs. What is Turbulence Training? According to Ballantyne, its a combination of resistance training and interval training used to primarily boost your metabolism so that you are burning calories and fat between workouts.
He says: “Cardio doesn’t boost your metabolism after exercise. Only strength training and interval training do that – while you work, sleep, and eat – your body will be destroying fat.“
I liked that this system of bodyweight exercises, dumbbell, and interval training can all be done at home, with very minimal equipment. (If you’re already in decent shape a chin-up bar would help as well). So to be clear, if you’re the person who currently loves cardio machines, or 2 hour workouts this will be a huge change in your lifestyle. But from what I’ve seen, this may be the key to the next step in your fitness levels. I’ve used a lot of programs, because I enjoy changing my routines and patterns, and Turbulence Training is one that is always somewhere in my rotation. And its one I’m very happy to recommend to others. Personally, I hate workouts that stretch into the 90min mark and take up too much time in my day! If you are reading this review we can probably agree that we both want to be in great shape, but we don’t want to devote all of our free time to that one goal. We have more important things to do! I, like you, would rather spend my free time with my friends and family. But I also realize that I’ll be able to do that for many more years if I am healthy and feel good about myself. It’s also worth pointing out that this is not the program for you if you are looking to gain a lot of muscle! If that is also one of your goals, male or female, I would recommend checking out The Fat Loss Authority’s Get A Six Pack programs that stress muscle building along with effective fat loss. Don’t get me wrong, with Turbulence Training you will gain muscle, but if that is your primary goal than I would recommend exploring different options. The Turbulence Training system is ideal for burning fat without sacrificing muscle – so you end up lean, defined, and scupted.
I highly recommend this system to beginners who are just starting out on their fitness quests because Craig has put together a 6-week introductory program, and a 4-week intermediate program in addition to the 16-week advanced training phase. Each workout progresses into the next so you continue to challenge yourself as your body becomes much leaner, stronger and healthier. I’ve read a lot of other programs that leave you a physical mess after your first few workouts but I really enjoyed the progression Turbulence Training takes you through.
Sure, you will still have those aches and pains after your first few workouts, but that’s the feeling of your muscles being awoken from years of slumber. Don’t worry, they WILL thank you for it!
Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training also contains a contract (I love this stuff) — basically, its your pledge to Craig and yourself to being committed to the program. It also includes an ebook on Nutrition Guidelines from expert, Dr. Chris Mohr, Ph.D. The guidelines have an extensive Q&A section, a 21-Healthy Habit Building Plan, plus the complete Turbulence Training workouts for beginner, intermediate and advanced level individuals. Another feature I found particularly helpful is the Turbulence Training MP3 audios where Craig goes over the program. And within the manual every exercise is explained in detail, along with photos. This was huge for me! I detest when a program suggests an exercise and then it’s called something like a “reverse two hand monkey dumbbell flip” or something equally indecipherable and then provides only a confusing description. So when I saw Craig provided pictures, I was very happy. Okay, so bottom line. Turbulence Training is NOT….
On the other hand, Turbulence Training is perfect for men and women who want to burn fat in the comfort of their own homes without spending a lot of money on equipment or exercise machines. For the money, it’s a really great value at $39.95 and much healthier than any fad diet. In fact you’ll find yourself eating more (just healthier) and still losing weight. If you’re really serious, Craig also offers an upgrade package for $97 that basically throws everything at you including the kitchen sink. It’s a great value, but only if you’ll use the upgrade bonuses. If you don’t think they’d be of use to you down the road, stick with the basic package. Turbulence Training is backed by a 8-week money back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, you will receive your money back, no “ifs,” “ands,” or “buts.” If this sounds like something you could make work for you, take a closer look at Craig Ballantyne’s Turbulence Training system. Remember, the best weight loss program for you, is the one you’ll stick with. To your future,
