SENSA Weight Loss Review – Is it a Scam?

By Team TFLA Under Diet, Eating Strategies, Exercise, Fad Fat Loss Reviews, Goal Setting, Nutrition

When it comes to losing weight people will try just about everything. From cardboard replicas of food to fasting for weight loss to outrageous exercise regimens, most of us have tried it all without much success.

Sensa Weight Loss
Sensa appetite suppressants come in several different flavors to always keep your body guessing!

All that is, except for the Sensa appetite suppressant product by Dr. Alan Hirsch. Dr. Hirsch, M.D., F.A.C.P., is a certified neurologist and psychiatrist, making him pretty much the Grand Poobah of brain-related stuff. As founder of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, Dr. Hirsch has spent years studying, evaluating and diagnosing disorders related to our senses of taste and smell.

So, what about the Doc’s Sensa product?

WHAT IT IS:

Sensa appetite suppressants are tiny crystals that come in both salty and sweet varieties. You sprinkle these sugar free crystals over your food the same as you would salt or pepper. The salty shaker is used for savory dishes, while the sweet shaker is to be used on any sweet treat you eat.

You can rest easily because the Sensa weight loss shakers have no sugar, no calories, no gluten, and no MSG. The salty shaker does have “less than” 1 milligram of sodium.

THE SCIENCE:

Keep in mind that the creator of this appetite control product is an uber brain, and the science behind it is a little difficult to understand. So the flavored crystals, also called tastants, are sprinkled on every piece of food you consume. The smell from these tastants travel through your nose and tongue all the way to your brain, to a portion of the brain called your “satiety center”. Once at the satiety center receives the signal from the tastants, it sends a signal to your pituitary gland, which releases hormones that suppress your hunger and make you feel full.

THE PRICE:

If you’re interested in trying Sensa for weight loss, you can try the starter kit free for one month with a small shipping and handling fee. If you decide to keep the trial offer you will automatically be billed each month. The fee for a 60 day supply of Sensa shakers plus a user guide and DVD to get you started, is $89.95 billed automatically every 60 days for as long as you want it.

You can’t put a price on your body and your health, but I’d suggest trying it for a month and then see what’s what.

But be sure to cancel your trial before your month is over so you don’t get automatically charged for the second month.

Sensa Shaker

A sprinkle of Sensa tastants will let you know when you’re full.

WHATS GOOD:

You’ll enjoy Sensa for weight loss if you want to lose weight but you don’t want to stop indulging in the foods that have caused you to need to lose weight. One of the biggest claims made by Dr. Hirsch about his Sensa weight loss product is that there are absolutely no food restrictions.

By not restricting what you eat, Sensa claims that the sweet and salty crystals will help you eat less of your favorite foods so that you’ll lose weight.

The sprinkles are made from FDA-approved ingredients including milk, soy, maltodextrin, silica, tricalcium phosphate, and carmine.

What else is good about Sensa? Well as the website suggests, Sensa appetite suppressant fits into your life as it already is. You don’t need to include an exercise routine into your day, eliminate fatty foods, or anything other than sprinkle Sensa on all of your food before you eat it!

One of the best things about Sensa is the 30-day money back guarantee! If you don’t like the appetite control product, or you are dissatisfied with the results, return it within the first 30 days and get your money back. Nothing says peace of mind like getting your hard-earned cash back!

WHATS BAD:

The part of Sensa that left me most disappointed was the lack of emphasis on exercise, the second half of the only tried and true method of weight loss. The focus is on losing weight easily, the way you want to without really focusing on the big changes needed for successful weight loss.

While it is true that if you just eat less you will (slowly) lose weight, increasing overall lifestyle movement in your life is always a positive step, but perhaps just losing that first 5-10lbs may be motivation enough to go for a bike ride or join some dancing classes.

Although Dr. Hirsch really nails the science of his Sensa weight loss product, he forgets the most important parts of any scientific study–validation and replication. That means that no one else has conducted a similar study (using Sensa) and gotten similar results.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Any weight loss product you ingest should be double-checked for side effects or adverse reactions. Because Sensa contains soy and milk, anyone with allergies to either of these products should avoid Sensa. Although all the listed ingredients in Sensa have been recognized as safe by the Food & Drug Administration, reported Sensa side effects include edema or swelling, dizziness, vomiting, hives, diarrhea, an upset stomach, gas and loose bowels.

IS IT A SCAM?

It appears that the good Dr. Hirsch has spent a lot of time and effort researching and creating his Sensa product and I think he believes that this product works. I can’t say for sure that it is a scam, but I can say that flavored crystals will not help you lose weight and keep it off.

The science is definitely interesting and I’m sure there’s some truth in it, but as with most diets, not the whole truth.

There’s nothing wrong with making an effort to eat less food on your quest to be fit. The problem is trying to lose weight and keep it off without changing anything about your life, which is exactly what Sensa promotes.

But from the testimonials we have seen and an actual peer reviewed weight loss study, I think
Sensa is worth the 30 day Free Trial…. just don’t forget to cancel if you don’t see any results

If however you’re looking to lose weight and keep it off to live a healthier life, do more homework and find out if Sensa is the product for you.

But if you’ve already decided that SENSA is probably a little too pricey for you, then take a look at our Diet Solution Program Review.  It teaches you positive eating habits and its waaaay cheaper in the long term. Win/Win.

I read all the information on the “free” trial but when I read further and learned of the AUTOMATIC RECURRING CHARGE of $89.95 (before taxes, S&H) if I didn’t cancel before the 30th day of the “free” trial even though I’d be getting a 60 day supply of Sensa, I attempted to pay the $9.95 S&H of the “free” offer via a pre-paid Visa gift card but pre-loaded debt and/or pre-paid gift cards ARE NOT ACCEPTED for trial period purchases! Why would that be Sensa’s policy? Hhmm, maybe because more often than not people forget to cancel prior to the 30th day so they can stick that $89.95+ charge on your credit or bank card?

I can’t say this is a scam but I find it very suspicious and highly questionable that this company WON’T accept gift “credit cards” or pre-loaded card purchases for the so-called free trial purchase. Every business accepts gift “credit cards” as well as pre-loaded credit-debit cards but these folks do not so TREAD CAREFULLY!!!!

  2. Hi LaDana,

I totally know what you mean. Its not a scam, as most companies that follow this format are really godo with canceling your future payments if you call in to cancel, but more times than not, nobody calls in.

In my opinion, I do believe that if the company is upfront and honest and clear about the rebilling payment this is up to the customer to take responsibility for. Its shitty that they dont take gift cards, but I do see their point.

Funny how everything has a catch these days huh? haha.

I think that’s why I feel good about promoting mostly e-books for sale on The Fat Loss Authority, because its a 60 day guarantee on most products and I know all of the authors personally and their customer service is great.

If you ever do get SENSA, please come back and give us a report, I’d even give you a guest post opportunity for you to tell your story if you wanted.

thanks for your comment and hope you’ll keep coming back.

  3. I can not believe they use the word free, then charge you 9.99 for something that costs 3.99 to mail and then they want your credit card. no way people. To many companies operate like this on the net and more often than not, they are scams.

I have tried Sensa, not once but twice. The first time I used it I was in the original “testing” group and was very disappointed because it did absolutely nothing for me, no weight loss at all. The second time I tried it was years later, thinking and hoping that they had improved it after all the testing was done. Once again I used it for several months and once again I had no weight loss at all.

I don’t know if it’s a “scam” but I do know that it didn’t work for me twice and discovered that I wasn’t alone. If it had worked I was willing to pay the price for it but it’s expensive for zero results. I don’t believe there are any quick fixes and I wish there were.

I do not recommend this product based on my own experiences.

  5. thanks so much for your input and feedback. I hope you will be able to use some of the information on TFLA to help you reach the results that SENSA couldnt help you with. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sorry to read about those who had unpleasant reactions. At least I have nothing negative — because the product had ZERO impact for me. And like many others cancellation came with a price. Orders are billed long before shipments so I am still trying to get reimbursed for the order never received. Customer service — Sensa doesn’t offer that either. Hope you have the patience for the extensive hold times and no resolution to the problem. A $90 lesson learned. Ouch!!

  11. I know about negative calories, and I know it’s just a term for food that take more energy for your body to burn, than the food has itself. . . So like my question says, do frozen and canned food count as foods with negative calories or do they all have to be fresh? Also could you list some negative calorie foods?. I know alot, but I’m not sure if that’s all:. asparagus. beets. broccoli. cabbage (green). carrots. cauliflower . celery. chicory. chili peppers. cucumbers. endive. garlic . lettuce. onions. papayas. spinach. turnip. zucchini. apples. cranberries. grapefruit. lemons . mangos. oranges. pineapple . raspberries. strawberries. tangerines.

  13. First of all, let me start by saying that this website is NOT an authority on weight loss. People, please…….understand that there is big money to be made by idiots like Alan Hirsch. In my opinion, I believe he is a fraud, as well as his supposed product, Sensa. What a load of crap! The science behind this junk is just not there. None of it makes any sense at all. People, educate yourselves before you run out and throw your money away to these creeps. Understand how the body uses calories…and why it is you are fat. Tell yourself the truth, and don’t blame it on anyone but YOU! Like I said, this supposed Dr Hirsch (I doubt he really exists) is not the uber brain this article claims him to be. Come on, folks…dummy up. There is not, nor will there ever be, an easy way to lose weight. Sprinkling something on your food so that your nose smells it, then sends the signal to your brain and pit gland to tell you that you are full….lololololol….sorry….doesn’t work that way. If that were the case, we would all get full really fast, because we smell everything we are eating. And don’t try and tell me that these stupid packets contain a “miracle” ingredient that really works. Read what’s in the packets, people. Common, everyday food-stuffs. I’m getting tired of all these idiots claiming that they have discovered the secret behind weight loss. There is NO secret!!!!!! Stop eating and start moving….there, I said it! The real secret is out, now. And, I said it free of charge. Folks, the Fat Loss Authority us NOT an authority on anything but BS. This website sucks, and so do the morons who wrote the article. There is no fast weight loss program, people. Don’t you know that by now? Dummy up and stop throwing your hard earned money away…and get out there and make good food choices for your meals….then move your butt…ya know…exercise? Ever heard of that? Here’s a formula for you…..use more calories than you take in = lose weight. PERIOD! How’s that for fancy, scientifically sound advice? Wow…I must be an uber uber brain, huh? I hope they start regulating this kind of crap…because I know beyond the shadow of a doubt, that this supposed Dr is a fake and a fraud…and should be in prison with the rest of the scam idiots that put this stupid product together.

All you serious have to avoid most of the fast food chains which are high in calories and processed food which is all i scam to take your money.. think logically.. can you really pay $1usd and get=bread lettuce cheese pickles ketchup mustard meat in the grocery store?? So how can mcdonalds sell it??? Be smart & stop being lazy!! america is designed around taste!! When your body realize something doesnt taste good you think its not good for yo because your programed to believe that but the truth is if it taste to good it aint good for you because taste is created in a lab which is sugar and sodium!
