Finding That Special Someone… to Workout With!
Did you know the quality of a workout/activity can be greatly increased by the choice of your fellow participant(s)?
Research shows that choosing a buddy to walk with means that you’re more likely to stay with your program. Being active with a partner or a small group can help you stay motivated and make your workout more fun! Perhaps you already have some exercise friends within your support circle, but there is always room for more.
Finding someone with similar fitness interests and goals to work out with can be stressful but here are four easy tips to find more health and fitness friends:
1. Communicate.
Talk to people you know at work and outside. Ask what they do to stay active. Explain what you do or what you would like to do. Talk to friends, family, co-workers, neighbours, and anyone else I may have inadvertently missed (no disrepect intended to my financial advisor or pastor).
2. Get Connected.
You can find plenty of websites for active-minded people (like us The Fat Loss Authority). For example, you can search for exercise partners online at Craigslist. Just select your country and city; then under the Community section, select “Activities.”
3. Choose carefully.
Find someone on whom you can rely on and ultimately someone whose company you enjoy and who shares similar fitness levels and goals. This will help strengthen the accountabilty between each other and help you reach your goals faster.
4. Consider joining a recreational sports league, or a fitness class.
This is the easiest and quickest way to find people with mutual interests who can join you and support your committment to your fitness plan.
