All tea is good for you. Tea is made of plant called Camelia sinensis. This plant has amazing levels of several antioxidants and really does the body good. How does oolong tea benefits fit into the pile?

[The Mad Hatter loved his oolong tea! But don't worry, drinking lots of tea won't make you crazy!]

Read more to find out what the benefits of oolong tea can do for you…

Oolong tea began centuries ago in China. Even back then the people were aware of the amazing health benefits from drinking tea. Today we will talk about how oolong tea benefits can help you achieve some of your fitness goals.

Oolong tea- Different from the Rest

There are three main types of teas; green, oolong, and black. The difference between the three is in their processing or oxidation and caffeine levels.

Oolong tea fits right in the middle.

The levels of caffeine in oolong tea are perfect for a little pick me up without any jitters. This amount of caffeine can help you to increase your energy expenditure, aka burn calories, but the real amazing oolong tea benefit comes from another source.

A study done by the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center explains that tea will actually help to increase your insulin activity, actually boosting your metabolism and resulting in fat loss. Check out the study here.

How much difference does this increase in insulin activity make in your fitness goals?

The answer is sadly a small fraction. But, hey! There are many little changes that you can make to your life that will help you along your weightloss way and a lot of little fractions put together makes one very big one!

I can tell you one thing; switching from your 350 calorie morning coffee to a delicious cup of oolong tea on a consistent basis will get results. The important thing is not to add a ton of sugar or honey.

There is no point in eating healthier if you aren’t eating to lose weight.

I wonder how many times Tea Leoni had to correct the pronunciation of her name?

Oolong Tea Benefits- Other than Weightloss

This is called the Fat Loss Authority blog, but we are interested in more than just losing fat. We are concerned with a healthier lifestyle. Weight loss just happens to be a benefit and prerequisite of this type of lifestyle.

Oolong tea is a wealth of free radical fighting antioxidants and vitamins that will cleanse your body, strengthen your immune system and decrease the signs of aging.

The only other way to consume that much antioxidants in one day is to eat a fruit and vegetable diet.

Hydration is also an important part of a healthy body. If you are a person that gets bored with water, oolong iced tea can be a good alternative. Add a squeeze of lemon and you have a delicious drink with virtually no calories. Any other drink and you could be drinking about as many calories as you would consume during breakfast.

Another great way to increase your metabolism is through intense but short exercise routines. The Fat Burning Furnace is a great program to follow that will keep you exercises less than a half hour. Check out our review here.

[ Mmm, I do love me some hand cake. Having a healthy snacks list available for emergency situations can save you from ruining your day.]

Keep reading to have your healthy snacks list ready when your hunger strikes…

Self control and determination can make or break your success at weight loss. A lot of times, your amount of self control is determined by the situation you are in.

You can take control of your situation by not allowing temptations to enter your house. In other words, it wouldn’t be smart to load your cupboards with bonbons and cheetos.

Admittance to the Healthy Snacks List

In order to be admitted to the healthy snacks list, these foods need to meet certain requirements. They have to be healthy but also satisfying.

It is important to keep your snacks under 200 calories. This way it stays a snack, not another meal. Also, you want to look at where those calories come from. You don’t want 200 calories of fat. Your healthy snacks list should be comprised of foods that will give you some nutrition to keep going.

Good things to have in your snacks are protein, vitamins, fiber, and all natural ingredients.

You also want to look at the satisfaction factor. Will this snack keep you satisfied until your next meal? Or will you be grabbing for something else in 10 minutes?

Keeping those things in mind, we have come up with a diverse and delicious healthy snacks list to get you started. It is just the tip of the iceberg but hopefully it will get your creative juices flowing and give you an understanding on what makes your snack worthy of being on the healthy snacks list.

TFLA’s Healthy Snacks List

Jicama with lime juice

part skim cheese stick wrapped in 1 slice of fat free turkey breast

1/4 cup hummus with red pepper

1 oz of almonds

celery or carrots in ranch

frozen banana dipped in yogurt

handful of dried fruits

our delicious strawberry smoothie recipe

a mini bag of popcorn

1 hard boiled egg

a dill pickle

dried peas

1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese with halved cherry tomatoes

wholegrain waffle with 1 oz nutella

vegetable spring roll with 1 oz peanut sauce

a fruit of your choice

1/4 cup of salsa with 10 whole grain tortilla chips

1 oz of the darkest chocolate you can find

1 Tbsp of guacamole (recipe on our avocado nutrition facts post) with 1 quesadilla made of 1 corn tortilla and 1 slice of part skim mozzarella

Crackers Worthy of the Healthy Snacks List

Crackers are a very popular snack food but you have to be careful of which crackers you choose. Most are full of sodium and fat, and some are wolves in sheep’s clothing, making you think they are healthy when they really aren’t.

Here are those that made the cut: (1 oz of each)

Nabisco Whole Wheat Triscuits

Ak Mak’s Whole Wheat Sesame Crackers

Carr’s Whole Wheat Crackers

Finn Crisp Rye

San J’s Black Sesame Rice Crackers

Cookies Worthy of the Healthy Snacks List

As you can guess, there aren’t many cookies out there made from natural ingredients and aren’t loaded with sugar, but we searched the cookie aisle to find you a choice for your healthy snacks list:

South Beach Living PB Cookies

100% Whole Grain Fig Newton

Kashi TLC Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Cookies

HoneyPot Ginger Cookie Mix by SimplyOrganic

Any flavor Almondina Cookies

Don’t forget that with every snack you consume, eat it with a nice tall glass of ice cold water or unsweetened ice tea. Many times when we think we are hungry, we are just thirsty. Drinking lots of pure liquids will keep you from getting out of control and snacking only from the healthy snacks list.

The push up: an evergreen workout move that has been used for centuries and will always be used as a great upper body workout, however, does it not get repetitive after awhile?

[Basic push ups done over and over really make me want to gag! These guys aren't having any fun and that just isn't fair!]

Okay, maybe I’m being a little over dramatic, but…

To learn a new and exciting push up workout, keep reading…

Push up workouts are a staple of the history of exercise. The military uses push ups, every sports team uses push ups, and any joe at home does push up on the living room floor.

Push ups are an effective way to increase your upper body strength, but after awhile they get boring and actually lose their effectiveness if you’ve increase your ability to do them with ease.

What to do?

Switch things up by doing push up workouts with push up variations. Making small changes to the way you do your push ups will give you a challenge and keep things interesting.

You will also be able to see more of a definition in your chest and arms because of these changes.

Are traditional push ups child's play to you?

When you perform a certain move in your daily workout, your body gets used to it. It uses less strength and burns less calories, the better you get at them. All you need is the slightest change of position or increase in intensity to make your push ups harder to complete.

If you can bust out more than 50 push ups without batting an eye, its time to try one of these different push up workouts:

Plyometric push up:

This is done like a regular push up only instead of just pushing up slowly, you push up explosively, so explosive that you push your whole body in the air and your hands leave the floor. Land carefully back into regular push up position and repeat.

One handed push up:

This is exactly how it sounds. You may need to balance better by moving your legs farther apart or putting one knee on the floor.

T push up:

Perform a traditional push up but when you come back up, rotate your body and point one hand up to the ceiling. Return that hand back to the floor and perform another push up. This time, rotate your body to the opposite side and point the other hand up to the ceiling.

Diamond push up:

For these push ups the challenge is in the placement of the hands. Put your thumbs and forefingers together to form a diamond on the floor. Now do your push up workouts. If you notice, your triceps are getting worked much more in this variation and that helps get rid of under arm flab.

One legged push up:

The same as a traditional push up but with one leg up in the air. It is harder than it sounds.

Decline push up:

Place your feet on a bench or an exercise ball behind you and get into push up position. This elevation of the feet will place more weight on your upper body making these killer push up workouts.

See any that pique your interest? Why not mix and match. You’ll feel the difference right away and you’ll see the difference in your upper body strength in not too long.

Sometimes it’s important to get out of our workout rut and try something new. All the above push up workouts are also great six pack exercise.

With all the BBQs and cookouts I’ve hosted or attended in the last little while, I try and bring something a little unique to the table each time because you can always count on someone else to bring the staple potato salad or shrimp ring.

It always amazes me the number of people who have never tried or tasted grilled vegetables on the BBQ?

[I always end up with a boatload of compliments on my recipe below. Word to the wise: Anything bigger then the zucchinis above is difficult to grill]

It’s primarily a Mediterranean recipe, that can be found on most Italian kitchen tables all summer long. Personally, I love the way grilling gives vegetables a smokey almost primal-like flavor. They’re aroma becomes more robust, but they still retain their vibrant colors and natural sweetness.

Doing a little research, I’ve also learned from the American Institute for Cancer Research, that the grill does not produce carcinogens in plant-based foods the way it does in meat. Furthermore, quick exposure to high heat means the veggies won’t lose vitamin and mineral value.

Speaking of nutrional value, this recipe is bullet proof. Unless of course you have hefty out-of-control servings of these toppings on your meat.

So is it hard to make?

Hell No! That’s why I’m sharing my personal BBQ Vegetables Recipe here today so you too can look like a culinary genius at your next BBQ.

Vegetable Inventory and Prep:

1. Slice one green and one red bell pepper through the middle of the pepper top to bottom. Remove stems, seeds, and the soft whitish tissue.

2. Remove skin from one white or red onion and cut horizontally about 1/2 inch thick.

3. Slice two zucchinis and one eggplant into lengthwise 1/2 inch think slices.

4. Throw all the vegetables into the largest bowl you have and dress them with EVO (extra virgin olive oil) and salt. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty here. I always mix this large batch of veggies with my hands… after I’ve washed them of course.

Get Grilling!

1. Place all the vegetables on the bottom grill (I find 300 degrees to be optimal).

2. Grill the onion pieces until they are translucent (ie. you can kinda of see through them) and leave the rest on the grill until they are soft.

3. Place all grilled veggies back in the large bowl.

4. Wait 5 minutes to cool and then chop up the rest using a pair of kitchen scissors into good-sized chunks, not too fine because we’re not making baby food here.

5. Dress with EVO, balsamic vinegar and salt. Now you have some kick-ass grilled vegetables!

Important Notes

Yes, there are more complex recipes out there that have garlic cloves, squash, tomatoes, mushrooms etc while throwing in rosemary, ground pepper and other herbs. Problem with the smaller type vegetables is the spacing of your grill. Even with my recipe above, your bound to occasionally lose an item to the BBQ fire gods but I won’t even tell you the story of when I tried doing mushrooms and garlic. It was a mess!

In regards to herbs: I like to keep things simple and let the natural flavors come out and attack my taste buds. But don’t let me stop you. Try things out for yourself and let me know if I’m missing out on something dynamite.

I specifically left out grilling times since each BBQ is different in method (gas, charcoal, etc.) and brand technology. Don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t worry about stuff burning. If it does, place it on a side plate and pick off the burnt portions and throw the good stuff into the large finishing bowl. It’s all good!

Also, don’t get bent out of shape about marinating for a long time; this is not a 2-inch piece of steak. Veggies absorb flavor quickly so don’t worry about preparing the night before because it’s the summer time and you have better things to do.

Lastly, don’t be afraid to cook a large batch to have as leftovers as the above numbers are typically all that fits on the bottom of my grill. This stuff gets better the next day and makes for some awesome toppings on your usual boring turkey sandwhiches.

There are many stress-relief techniques to choose from to cope with these situations , and we’ve covered quite a few here at the Fat Loss Authority:

But not all of these are necessarily the best ways to maintain your productivity for the rest of the day. Music on the other hand can be incorporated into anything that we do throughout our day.

Here are a few ideas on how you can incorporate more music into your life to make your day a bit more enjoyable!

1. Wake yourself up with music, set your clock radio to your favourite station or blare the CD player in the bathroom while you shower.

2. Turn on the tunes in your car on your way to (or from) work or just running errands. It can take your mind off the traffic, noise and pollution and help bring more ease to your daily commute. And don’t be afraid to belt it out loud when the chorus hits like Chris Farley and David Spade.

3. Grab your MP3 player before heading out for your daily walk, run or workout. Inspirational music can help you stay motivated throughout your exercise routine.

4. Putting on some soothing tunes while you’re cooking or eating dinner can energize you after a long day. If you’re more relaxed, this daily chore will seem more effortless and because you will be more relaxed when you sit down to eat, your body will digest food better than when its feeling tension.

5. Crank the music up when you’re doing any household chores or paying bills. These tasks on there own can often be tedious but they can be a lot of fun too if you set it up that way.

Since getting quality sleep each night is key to any successful day, play some light relaxing music at bedtime to help ease your mind and slow down your breathing to lull you into a peaceful slumber.

“I need expensive fat loss and muscle building supplements now that I’m exercising regularly!”

People believe there is a shortcut or a faster path to burning fat or building muscle especially when they have incoporated some exercise into their daily lives. Congrats, you’re active again but the second part of the equation needs to change as well-> Diet.

By now you’re probably thinking I regularly eaves-drop on conversations (see Want to Lose Weight and Build Muscle? Don’t Use Supplements!) but I can’t help but think that more people are falling head over heels for the glossy ad prints in today’s popular magazines.

For your newly active lifestyle, skip the supplements and focus on tasty and healthy food. A protein powder or fat burner pill will never taste as good as a meal that includes the following items:

Vegetables and fruit, grain products, and milk and alternatives provide carbohydrates or the fuel that your muscles require. Milk and meat (and suitable alternatives such as Soy and Tofu) provide the high quality protein that is needed to build and repair muscles.

Foods from all four food groups provide vitamins and minerals which help turn food into energy your body can use, build strong bones and muscles, and fight off nasty infections. If you are very active you may need to eat more servings from each of the food groups to satisfy your energy requirements. I suggest you see a Registered Dietitian for additional food servings or special nutrient needs.

In the end, products like stimulants, muscle building or weight loss supplements are not needed to get the most out of your activity or to gain muscle or lose weight. Regular exercise combined with healthy foods will help you achieve and maintain the body you want!

For more information regarding supplements check out Vince DelMonte’s Your Six Pack Quest. The program comes with more bonuses than I can count (see full review), including ten- 84 day meal plans that accommodate for any body type, and entire chapter discussing supplements and their use.

I’ll be the first to admit complete skepticism about this ancient cross-legged activity but through a little reading and practising it’s probably the simplest and most effective way to reduce and/or manage stress in my life currently.

The benefits are numerous and if you don’t have a daily practice established yet, I strongly encourage it based on the following reasons:

During meditation the heart rate and breathing slow down, your blood pressure normalizes, you use oxygen more efficiently, and you sweat less. Also, your adrenal glands produce less cortisol, your mind ages at a slower rate, and your immune function improves. It is also known to help improve creativity (think Steve Martin as the new age Boss in Baby Mama)!

So, now that you know the benefits, you have no excuses to not give it a try?

5 Easy Steps to Meditation:

1. Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lay down where you won’t be disturbed.

2. Close your eyes and just focus on your breathing, feeling your belly rise and fall with each inhale and exhalation.

3. Allow your thoughts and emotions to surface regardless of how negative they may be. Don’t resist them. The more you practice, the more gaps you will experience between your thoughts. Those gaps are critical to the state of meditation.

4. Start with 5-10 minutes of meditation initially and then add on 5 minute increments when you feel ready to lengthen your sessions. If at first you don’t succeed no need to blame yourself. Remember, that it takes a regular practice to remain still for long periods.

5. Use a timer to let you know when you’re session is over so that you can move with awareness into whatever is happening next in your daily routine.

Remember Olivia Newton John? Who couldn’t with the catchy song “Physical” from 1981 and other hits before and after. And who could forget her performance in the smash hit movie “Grease”? I’m starting to hum “Summer Nights” out loud right now! So where am I going with this? I bet very few people remember her as a breast cancer survivor who is now a tireless advocate for breast cancer research and other health issues. So in tribute to Olivia, here are some general guidelines for everyone to consider when determining your health. Note, there are additional tests (ie. prostate) for both males and females so use the following recommendations as a starting point.

In your 20s:

Arrange for a complete physical every five years, including:

- Cholesterol profile

- Blood pressure check

- Waist measurement and height and weight measurements to calculate your body mass index or BMI

- Most physicians also recommend a complete blood count, a blood sugar test and a urinalysis.

- Get an adult-type tetanus-pertussis-diphtheria booster (and follow up every 10 years).

- See your dentist every six to 12 months.

Welcome to your 30s:

- Sign up for complete physicals, which should repeat the tests conducted in your 20s, but every three years instead of every five.

Welcome to your mid-life crisis or better known as your 40s:

- Get a complete physical every two years.

- Schedule a baseline EKG at 40; repeat it periodically.

- Take a fasting blood sugar test at 45, then every three years.

- Start skin cancer screening, with additional exams by a dermatologist.

Your 50s, congrats, you can taste your retirement:

- Make your complete physical an annual event, including these three important additions:

- Colon cancer screening, which should take one of four approaches: Annual fecal occult blood testing (FOBT) with colonoscopy for a positive test. FOBT plus sigmoidoscopy every five years. Colonoscopy every 10 years. Double-contrast barium enema every five to 10 years.

- Eye exams by a specialist

- Annual flu shot

Welcome to warm-climate weather, your 60s:

- As well as maintaining the pattern in your 50s, ask your doctor about a shingles shot. Also, get the pneumonia vaccine.

After your 60s:

-You can keep doing what you’ve been doing.

In speaking with different health professionals, the greatest challenge for men and women is persuading them to get regular physicals. Don’t stand in the way of your body. Be proactive and get checked today!

You have a finite amount of both so most of us know that to stay financially well, we need to set a household budget. The same practice can be applied to the game of life where we are juggling multiple roles and we need to schedule our time and allocate that time according to what’s most important to us. Although many commitments you may have are worthy of your time and speak to your goals or ideals, it can be difficult to say no to them. But too many of these commitments can cause unnecessary stress.

Here are 15 questions to consider when examining your own work/life schedule:

1. I feel like I have little or no control over my work life
2. I regularly enjoy hobbies or interests outside of work
3. I often feel guilty because I can’t make time for everything I want to
4. I frequently feel anxious or upset because of what is happening at work
5. I usually have enough time to spend with my loved ones
6. When I’m at home, I feel relaxed and comfortable
7. I have time to do something just for me every week
8. On most days, I feel overwhelmed and over-committed
9. I rarely lose my temper at work
10. I never use all my allotted vacation days
11. I often feel exhausted – even early in the week
12. Usually, I work through my lunch break
13. I rarely miss out on important family events because of work
14. I frequently think about work when I’m not working
15. My family is frequently upset with me about how much time I spend working

Top 3 Tips for Staying in Balance

1. Schedule brief breaks for yourself throughout the day. (ie. Walking at work)
2. Turn off your cell phone and leave your laptop at work. (Do you have other stress to minimize?)
3. Create and implement a life budget. (How do you spend your time? Make it count and stay active!)

Does concern for the economy have you tossing and turning? Stress can have a big impact on how well you sleep. It’s often suggested that we need a minimum of 7-8 hours of sleep every night. How many of us can honestly remember getting that much sleep in one night?

To help you reclaim some of those ZZZs, try these suggestions:

1. Do a little yoga before bed to relax and gain balance. A light walk on a treadmill to burn off any negative energy accumulated from the days activities works well too.

2. Lie in bed and breathe slowly, allowing your abdomen and chest muscles to relax. Concentrate on your breathing and you’ll soon find yourself on top of pillow mountain.

3. Read a book. Something light-hearted that doesn’t require you to increase your mental compacity (this is not the time for advanced calculus or newspaper reading as it might make you more tense).

4. Try a warm beverage such as herbal tea (especially chamomile, which helps your body relax), warm milk, or something else you like that doesn’t have too much sugar or caffeine. Green tea can also be consumed at this time even though it has a very modest amount of caffeine compared to regular tea or coffee. It may be helpful to someone trying to ease back their consumption of caffeinated beverages during the day.

5. Adjust your environment by darkening the room, adding some white noise (soothing sounds such as the ocean, rain or crickets) or blocking out noise entirely with earplugs.

For more practical life-extending suggestions, take a look at our review of Suzanne Gudaknst’s The Top Secret Fat Loss Secret program. It is brainlessly simple to follow!

Finally… a man is listening.

Yes, you remember this movie. Hard to believe it was released back in 2000 but Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt were hiliarious and I found myself watching this again over the weekend.

So how does this translate into a fat loss tip you say?

A survey done by IRON MAN magazine set out to question a number of women about their likes and dislikes concerning the male physique.

The results were very interesting…

One of the key questions was:

What is the physical attribute that first attracts you to a man?

Well, you would want to know the answers because those would be the sex-appeal bodyparts you should concentrate on.

What were those bodyparts?

Pulling the curtain back….

First place goes to broad shoulders (40 percent) and silver goes to muscular arms (35 percent).

So while lot of women will tell you that muscles don’t matter, maybe it’s because they haven’t been up close and personal with a set of well-developed shoulders and arms- an experience that can trigger certain primal instincts.. Rrrrrr….

Makes sense… but what about abs?

Well, in the survey a flat stomach came in third at 20 percent, behind delts and arms; however, in a separate question, when asked if tight six-pack abs on a guy are a turn on, more than 70 percent said yes. So you should definitely add abs to your specialization list (awesome arms will look mediocre with a belly).

Check out Vince DelMonte’s Your Six Pack Quest for further information on how to lose fat and uncover your six pack. The program comes with more bonuses than I can count (see full review), including the fat loss virtual training, ten- 84 day meal plans that accommodate for any body type, and over 15 hours of video footage of Vince in the gym showing you each and every exercise and workout personally.

Not the guy in the picture though. I applaud his enthusiasm, but I don’t suggest hoisting barbells over your head during the NBA playoffs. So, how do we incorporate activity into our routines at home? It’s simply a matter of how we choose to spend our time. We can lay on the couch and watch T.V. or we can choose to stretch instead (and still watch our favourite show!) Whatever you choose, be sure it’s simple and fun (for yourself and/or the whole family!)

Here are a few tips on building physical activity into your home life:

1. Begin/end your day with a 10-minute walk around the neighbourhood, maybe start a neighbourhood walking group!

2. Come up with a simple bending and stretching routine while you watch TV.

3. Do household chores like vacuuming or washing windows.

4. Create a garden or use planters on your balcony.

5. Do active outdoor work. Pull weeds, rake leaves, trim hedges, and use a push mower.

6. Wash and wax your car.

7. Dance 15 minutes to your favourite music.

8. Run up and down stairs several time a day just for fun.

9. Reduce the time spent in front of the TV/computer.

10. Keep the “parent taxi service” to a minimum. Walk your children to visit friends, to the library and to sporting events.

11. For trips less than 2 kilometers leave the car parked and walk, rollerblade or cycle.

12. Purchase your daily newspaper from a variety store and walk there.

13. Walk your dog or your neighbour’s dog twice a day.

14. Avoid the television/stereo remote control.

15. Walk around the house while talking on your cordless phone.

16. Make one night of the week family activity night.

17. Go grocery shopping at a local market, buy only what you need for the next couple days and walk home with a couple bags.

Heading outside for exercise in the cold weather can certainly be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be a chore to be prepared! Here are some tips to keep in mind:

1. Head into the wind.

Choose the route of your walk by the direction of the wind. You’ll be less likely to get chilled on the way back if you end your workout — when you may be sweaty — with the wind at your back.

2. Drink plenty of fluids.

Drink water or sports drinks before, during and after your workout — even if you’re not thirsty. Cold air has a drying effect, which can increase the risk of dehydration. In turn, dehydration increases the risk of frostbite.

3. Pay attention to wind chill.

The wind can penetrate your clothes and remove the insulating layer of warm air that surrounds your body. Fast motion — such as skiing, running, cycling or skating — also creates wind chill because it increases air movement past your body. When the temperature is 10 F and the air is calm, skiing at 20 miles an hour creates a wind chill of minus 9. If the temperature dips well below zero or the wind chill is below minus 20, choose an indoor activity instead.

4. Know when to call it quits.

If you notice a patch of hard, pale, cold skin, you may have frostbite. Get out of the cold and slowly warm the affected area. If numbness continues, seek emergency care. If you suspect hypothermia — characterized by intense shivering, slurred speech, loss of coordination and fatigue — seek emergency care.

5. Try exercising indoors if it is too cold.

There are always indoor options when the weather is too cold or icy. Mall walking, gyms, indoor activities such as indoor pools are also great options when the weather prevents you from enjoying the great outdoors.

It doesn’t sound like much of a holiday does it? Frankly, for most it’s just a continuation of the rest of the year on a schedule that leaves us mentally drained. Remember, the MIND is as important as the BODY so here are five ways to keep holiday stress to a minimum so that you enjoy and get into the holiday spirit:

Leave work at work! Last day at the office so why are you bringing your work home with you? It will still be there when you come back so why bother thinking about it? Just don’t!

Keep computer and TV time to a minimum (especially at night) and open up that book you have always wanted to read but never had the chance!

Spend more time with family – The holidays are suppose to be fun and not about rushing around to try to get everything done. Cut your parties or visits in half and stay at home with the family.

Set a calming and relaxing ambiance in your home! Dim the lights down or get some candles burning and throw on some music.

Catch up on your sleep! And don’t set the alarm clock!

Happy Holidays to you all and we’ll see you in the new year!

BONUS TIP: Stay away from Walmart and other retails stores (see BestBuy and Futureshop) on Boxing Day! Either go the following week or better yet shop online if you must. Waiting in line in the early hours of the morning for that new TV is just plain silly.

—————————————————————————————

This time of year has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It’s a time to reflect on the changes we want (or need) to make and resolve to follow through on those changes.

Without a shadow of a doubt, losing weight/starting to exercise regularly/signing-up at a gym/eating healthier always make it to the top of many people’s lists right along side the ever popular “getting a better job” or “quit smoking and/or drinking”.

Recent research from the UK shows that while 52% of participants in a Resolution study were confident of success with their goals, only 12% actually achieved their goals. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when they engaged in goal setting, a system where small measurable goals are used (lose a pound a week, instead of saying “lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public and got support from their friends. (Quirkology Study: [1])
